Who Really Runs the World?

The Ferengi Rules of Acquisition, like “Greed is Eternal”, “War is Good for Business” sound suspiciously like unfettered capitalism gone wild, where greedy banksters and unelected multi-national big players seem to have tentacles and suckers attached in high level places in government.

And, since Citizens United versus Federal Election Commission, this control just became more entrenched, giving corporations and unions the right to spend as much as they like buying elections in the USA.  No joke.

And remember: if money is free speech, your citizenship isn’t worth as much as GE, who in 2010 generated $10.3 billion in pretax income, but ended up owing nothing to Uncle Sam. In fact, it recorded a tax benefit of $1.1 billion, detailed in their 24,000 page tax return.

So what can we do about short sighted lizard brained aliens running the world?  Get creative  and collaborative!    Be your Savage Self!   Control your own Lizard Brain.  Expose the Red Team/Blue Team Circus for what it is.   That's why I'm running for President as a cartoon.  Vote SAVAGE 2012! Or better yet, Become President of your own Life!

Savage Race

I'm running again.  Every four years I do this.  I get out the party supplies, build a platform, and declare my cartoon candidacy in the political circus.   More from my Hind Quarters soon!

The HOLE Truth

Little Savage had this conversation with planet earth way back in 1995. Earth here is looking like a mutant with a couple major HOLEs in the Ozone layer.  In 2011, signs of ozone hole recovery were spotted in the Antarctic - bouncing back after the phase out of chlorofluorocarbons aka CFC’s.  Remember CFCs?  CFCs were in refrigerators, propellants and solvents.  They were banned because once they get into the atmosphere they rip a hole in the Ozone layer and continued to do so because CFC’s are not used up in the chemical reaction.  Without the protective ozone layer,  we'd be crispy critters -- sunburned in under 5 minutes with increasingly exponential rates of skin cancers.  Just ask the Australians about their skin cancer epidemic....    This story has a happy ending.   It is possible to reverse damage by making needed changes.  Those who argued against regulation and banning were mostly corporations who felt their bottom lines would hurt.  Ouch, I really feel for their tuches.    Hey, let’s not worry about future generations.  They have no rights.  They haven’t even been born yet.   Why should we care if future generations have a healthy ecosystem, food, and an environment with breathable air and drinkable water?  We won't be around.  After all, it’s not like we’re terrorists planting a bomb in the heart of NYC, setting it to explode in the year 2065, is it?  Just give us the HOLE TRUTH!  (Let's talk truth -- not vested interests -- about global dimming and geo-engineering....)

Little Savage Emerging Emergencies

Why does everything emerge at once?

The Little Savage ™ does not appear to be thinking about “emergence” in the sense that complex systems and patterns emerge through a web of interactions, or a process of self organization. Perhaps she is still caught in the reactionary principal - inaction until confronted with the impending emergency.   And she has her panic button handy, just in case the emergence gets a bit too overwhelming.
Snowflakes are emergent.
Water turning to steam as it heats up is emergent
Whirlpools in a stream are emergent.

Are emergencies forcing us to emerge into a new way of being?   Everything is speeded up.  Time is not linear.  It's a spiral, it's a roller coaster ride, and we got our tickets for it when we were born.

A poet on the street recently said to me as he passed me by:  “Welcome to this moment!”
Could it be we’re transforming? Caterpillars are transformers.  Maybe we are just cocooned, waiting for the moment.  Maybe we aren’t.  But it sure feels like when there’s an emergence or emergency, where is our roadmap or instruction manual?  It transforms, evolves, emerges moment by moment..   And we don’t have time for the bullshit anymore.   Have fun emerging!

Savage Groove

What is a groove? Whatever it is - it makes me want to dance. It’s a “feel”. Machines don’t understand “groove”. Humans do. It is the breath in music, the difference between mechanical and wonderful.
It can also be defined as “a situation or an activity that one enjoys or to which one is especially well suited”, for example, you may have found your “groove” in sewing, or teaching. or engineering, or gardening or writing.

What is a rut? It alludes to having a wheel stuck in a groove in the road.... routine, and implies b o r I N G. When does a groove become a rut? Too much repetition of the same changes our perceptions. We remember less, we hear less when there’s too much of the same tone, the same routines. It all blurs together, and we can lose our attentiveness. Humans are not designed to be machines. Machines are designed to do repetitive motions. Humans are designed for wonder.

"Choose your Rut Well"-- I think this cartoon means to find a situation which you can enjoy, find a way to make your current situation enjoyable, find something you are well suited for and/or something or someone to love! Because all grooves can slip into ruts if you’re not paying attention. Keep your curiosity quotient high. Wonder works wonders.

This is one of my very early Little Savage™ cartoons from 1994. Savage and her Cat are having a grooving conversation about whether her life is in a groove or a rut.
Back then, Definition #6 was not included in Webster’s definition of “Groove”. Sometime in the 90’s, musical scholars took up the word seriously and began writing about it, dancing around the subject in academic jargon, theoretical and neurological analysis and perspectives until they had dissected the groove out of groove. They were probably “in their groove”, but like any dissection or autopsy. the living creature cannot be experienced as a corpse. Corpses don’t dance.

The End - Backwords

OK, so I missed my deadline.  It’s not the end of the world.

And if it is, well so What!  It doesn’t matter.

If you’re reading this, it means it wasn’t the end of the world, or that the Editor gave me some grace.  Maybe that’s what God is, the Publisher, the One who takes our scripts and sends them back for corrections...  We have to keep doing it over and over again until we get it right.  Practice makes perfect!   And if we live in a multi-verse, there are bound to be lots of different endings.

THE END - for now.

“The End” is supposed to be the Last Savage Book in the series. I’ve been putting off starting at the beginning....maybe I should begin at the end.  Why not? Why not start at the end and work my way back to the beginning?  “This is NOT a Coloring Book”, which is the Little Savage “primer” just isn’t calling to me the way “The End” is calling.  I 'm a cartoon so I don’t have to live in a world controlled by linear time!!  And it's my book, and I'll write it backwards if I want!

And the end is near as the beginning is . . .

I wrote the bulk of these Little Savage books in 1995, and they have been sitting in storage since the Green Dragon Incident occurred.  (You’ll have to read that chapter when I write it).

Then I got busy doing other things, like movies -  and music (The Away Team) so . . . . here's where I'm starting all over again, at the END.    Really.
